ANC Eastern Cape elective conference expected this weekend

The elective conference of the ANC in the Eastern Cape is set to take place this weekend after it was postponed last month. But even yesterday it was unclear if the conference would go ahead as there was a meeting between the provincial task team and the ANC’s national leadership. For now it is all systems go. The planned sitting of the conference last month was held back due to a large number of disputes lodged about the manner in which branch meetings were conducted. Some of these issues remain unresolved. There were also a number of violent incidents and murders of ANC members, the latest this past weekend in Nelson Mandela Bay. Now the final preparations are being put into place in East London.
