In addition highlight innovationsGoogle today provided A launch program for Android 12. After August, there will be a total of eight versions before they are available to the general public.
Similar to last year, Google divides versions into sections. The top three Android 12 builds from February to April are classified as developer previews:
- Developer Preview 1: The first core build focused on developer feedback with new features, APIs, and behavior changes.
- Developer Preview 2: Incremental update with additional features, APIs, and behavior changes.
- Developer Preview 3: Incremental update for stability and performance.
In May, Android 12 Beta will be available as an OTA for easier and general installation. Google is adding an extra beta version coming in August this year.
- Beta 1: Initial beta quality release, wireless update for early adopters enrolled in Android Beta.
- Beta 2-3: Incremental Beta quality release Beta 3: Release candidate build.
- Beta 4: Platform Stability milestone. Ultimate APIs and behaviors. Play publishing opens.
- Candidate: Publish the candidate structure.
- Latest version: Android 12 has been released to AOSP and ecosystem.
This final beta version will be the “Platform Stability” version that allows developers to start final testing a few weeks before the official release. The turning point will see Android 12 achieve the ultimate SDK / NDK and its internal APIs, as well as application-oriented system behaviors.
