A police Facebook post was flooded with funny comments after Australians saw the first Cold Chisel-inspired name of the wanted woman.
South Australian Police asked the public to help locate a woman from Surrey Downs, 28, who is wanted for a series of serious crimes and bail violations after removing her house arrest bracelet.
The police revealed the woman’s name as well as the criminal record – Khe Sanh Cox and This was followed by a torrent of comments full of Cold Chisel references..
Of course, Khe Sanh is the name of the Australian band’s iconic song.
“I wonder if his soul was sold to a black stockbroker with a cigarette?” one person questioned.
Many people used the lyrics to suggest where Cox might be.
Someone said, “Maybe it will land in Hong Kong at 7 flight hours”, another said “you can hit the Hong Kong mattress all night.”
Commenters refer to other Cold Chisel classics
Others have provided references to other Cold Chisel songs.
Someone said, “You will find him in the Flame Trees with Ita, crossing the Bow River and drinking Cheap Wine,” someone said.
She was definitely not a Choir Girl. It’s Pity That I Have Nothing I Want, otherwise I would take you there but I’m Bringing the Group Together at Star Hotel on Saturday Night so it’ll be a Long Day. “
Did you check the manifest of the last plane out of Sydney? someone asked, referring to a line of the song the others were also working with.
Others suggested that the 28-year-old would not be at risk of escaping.
“There shouldn’t be a flight risk, as the last flight from Sydney is almost out,” someone said.
Some were concerned that several on duty referred to Cox being on a “train” rather than a “plane”.
“How many People think the lyrics are ‘train’ not ‘plane’… ”Someone said.
SA Police joined the jokes
Even SA Police got into jokes on Twitter.
“She’s not the Choir Girl – we’ve already called Bow River and Star Hotel,” the cops said.
